This weekend in wake of such tragedy, meditate on love. What gives you hope? What brings you joy? Bring light to your days and share it with those around. Here’s what brings light to ours…
H: Fruit for Breakfast! I wrote about it last summer, too. Fruit has always felt special to me, it’s simple and nutritious but still feels like a treat. Plus, according to the rules of digestion you should eat fruit by itself at least a 1/2 hour before anything else. I feel like I get a gold star for following proper digestion methods so early on in my day.
S: Honestly, this week has been filled with so much tragedy I couldn’t think of a single thing that I “dug” about it. I’ve been feeling powerless and furious at the injustice that has occurred and not sure what to do. During times of darkness, I try to remember to “look for the helpers” and seek out opportunities to be a helper. I keep going back to this quote and remember to be the light…
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” MLK Jr
H: This week I’ve been trading my rosé for a mocktail. Sparkling water, fresh ginger, a few frozen berries and mint. It’s pretty and hydrating and still feels special to sip on as I make dinner. (photo above)
H: This month I decided to add a few money saving routines to my week. I’ve been putting $20 away each week in a special spot dedicated to vacation. It’s substantial enough to make a difference but small enough not to miss. I’ve also been saving all of my coins. I love to watch my stash grow.
H: This sweet post from my teacher.
We all cope differently, as you go into your weekend, let yourself feel what you need to feel and remember to celebrate the little things. It always starts with love.
Have a happy and healthy weekend!
