Monday Mantra: I Hear You

I say a lot on this blog, but sometimes what I say the most is “I”.

This week I say “I” in a different sense, this week I say, “I hear you.”

Friday Digs

Happy Friday. This week has been filled with more ups and downs than I’ve experienced in a while. This weekend I feel myself needing quality downtime filled with little responsibilities and a lot of relaxation. Breath work, TV time, and baths will be on my to-do list.

But first, it’s Friday Digs.

Monday Mantra: Agency

As most writers  do, I love words. Love ’em. Finding new ones, dissecting old ones, repurposing generic ones. Every now and again I get stuck on a word that seems to speak to those pieces inside of me that I hadn’t yet been able to identify. Those feelings that flow through my body without a name, until at last I hear the word and it all makes sense. The word of the moment for me right now?

Agency.

That brings us to today’s mantra.

Friday Digs

Here’s to a Friday filled with tasks and fun—and a weekend filled with the same.

But first, it’s Friday Digs.

Monday Mantra: Out of My Element

As mindful guys and gals we’ve done our inner work, at least some of it. We’ve looked at the parts of our personalities that could use more compassion or less fire and we’ve improved. One thing I’ve noticed about myself this past week is that when I get out of my daily routine those bad habits I’ve worked on in the past, like being overcritical of myself and others, can creep back up and try to take over my mind once again.

Friday Digs

It’s been whirlwind of a travel week for me in Northern California—far enough away from the devastating wildfires but also close enough to see some of the impact. The picture from today’s post is of my yoga teacher training in Calistoga, California. The resort I called home during that training has been destroyed in the fires, if you have the means and are looking for a genuine place to donate, here’s a go fund me we’ve set up.

On another note, I am looking forward to the weekend.

It’s Friday Digs.

Guru Mind: I Don’t Have An Inner Voice

Almost every week I refer to “your inner voice,” but what does that actually mean? It’s a deep sense of self-value, taking action that honors that value, and constantly pushing against societal norms. At least, that’s where my inner voice guides me.

Mostly people are open to the message of their inner voice or inner guidance system, but on occasion I have people say to me “I don’t have an inner voice,” or even more, “I don’t know what it sounds like.”
